A mid level disturbance forming SW of Kangaroo Island in the evening of the 19th January caught our attention as it moved closer to the coast of SA. Reports of distant flashes to the SW from Adelaide made the decision to drive south an easy one. So Dave and I headed out at about midnight, and already at Port Rd we were seeing plenty of bolts to the distant south. We decided to head to Tim Thorpe's place at Meadows where we thought the view would be ideal for these storms. Got up to his place around 1am, and set up the cameras on top of 'his' hill. 5 hours later, as the sun was beginning to rise, we headed back down the hill after a very impressive viewing. The only downside was that the storms always seemed to cark it as it reached the coast, and never really got to great photographing distance.
Anyway, despite a lot of problems with focusing and capturing the distant bolts I did get a few snaps which are below.
