Only 3 days after breaking
our 6 month storm drought we were faced with a similar set-up. A
pre-frontal trough was firing up some storms on Eyre Peninsula and
moving eastwards to Adelaide. Unfortunately most of the lightning carked
it but a few isolated storms did mange to make it here. At about 2am I
headed down to St Kilda to suss out exactly how much lightning was
about. A storm to the west was putting out 1 flash every 5 mins or so
until it got right on the coast when it perked up a bit with 1 flash
every minute. They were quite interesting with long horizontal crawlers
lighting up the sky. (see photos above) Another storm to the NW also was
firing an occasional Cg, but both storms died pretty much straight away
when they reached Adelaide and that was the end except for a bit of rain
and wind.
